Cody Chittenden

Mechanical Designer

I was born and raised here in the Nashville area.  Growing up, I always enjoyed math and science, and at the age of eleven I knew I wanted to work in engineering.  It all started when I went out to the Lebanon Airport to attend a class for my Aviation Merit Badge in Boy Scouts, and with one day of learning, I was hooked. In high school I delved deeper into Scouting, earning both my Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor decorations, while learning what I could about nearby universities that offered degree programs in my interests.

After graduating from Mount Juliet High School in 2014, I attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville where I pursued degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.  There, I learned a lot about the principles of engineering and design, through many class projects and presentations. I took my time and worked to familiarize myself with as many 3D design softwares as I could in order to differentiate myself on my resume. However, in time, I found CAD based classes to be my favorite subjects. As a Vice President of the local UAH AIAA chapter and working as a contractor for a large aerospace industry leader for two years, I had many opportunities to meet with many different aerospace professionals, engineering students, and even many current and retired astronauts. I worked on commercial aircraft, defense systems, and a commercial crew capsule.  The City of Huntsville is still one of my favorite places to visit, and I’d consider it my second home.

I moved back to Mount Juliet in 2021, and I was surprised by the change in my hometown. I found a greatly changed area due to the influx of many people and a large need for 3D CAD professionals to support the increased pace of economic and building requirements of a growing city.  While searching for employment here in the local area, I applied to many engineering companies, but ultimately decided here at Kurzynske and Associates would be a welcome home for my talents, even with the change in industry. I have not been disappointed. Mechanical and plumbing engineering has been a shift in mentality, but I find that the process itself is always satisfying to see through to conclusion. While here, I have worked on many retail stores, local schools, and even universities.  I look forward to what the future may bring.
